More bad news in NASCAR land
Hearing that NASCAR will be lucky if they get 36 cars for the Daytona 500. Things are looking bad on the sponsor front. Bill Elliott cannot even find a ride. Former Camping World Truck Series and Nationwide Series champion Johnny Benson had hoped to drive for Turn One Racing in 2012, but his sponsorship deal fell through.
Benson had announced that he planned to have some sponsorship from the state of Michigan’s tourism office and had hoped to run the full truck schedule in 2012, but the deal never was finalized.
“We were really looking forward to bringing the 2008 champion back to the sport," said team owner Stacy Compton. “It’s unfortunate that the financing fell through and we’re not going to be able to campaign a championship winning effort for him. Everyone was working hard to try and pull this deal together, but it just fell short."
