Grad Dad Robert Sciglimpaglia Scores A Touchdown With Chevy Super bowl
Actor and Norwalk resident attorney Robert Sciglimpaglia hilariously attempts to ease his wife’s worried response urging her to wait it out and calmly suggesting they let their sons rant run its course. He even tells her that their son seems to be running out of steam as he only becomes more and more excited. Robert towards the end waves to his confused neighbor Steve and says, “Love the car", who is in fact the real Chevy car owner. The memorable commercial will be airing on an ad slot in front of millions of viewers for 2012 Super Bowl Sunday.
The commercial was originally previewed during the NFC Championship Game and is the creation of 26-year-old Long Island film maker Zachary Borst. Out of 200 worldwide commercial submissions “The Happy Grad" was chosen as the winner of the Chevrolet Route 66 video submission contest. The lively and hilarious piece will now air during the 46th Super Bowl between the Giants and Patriots. Chevy chose the commercial as it contained all the important elements the company was looking for: light-heartedness and a commitment to the Chevrolet name. In June of 2011, Robert Sciglimpaglia did an off-Broadway play with Jamie Kehoane, who recommended him for the slot of the father and now plays his wife in the new popular ad.
"Zach was amazing," states Sciglimpaglia. "He pays such attention to detail, but he doesn't micromanage. He lets the actors act. I did this little Vanna White thing where I opened and closed the refrigerator door. That was completely ad-libbed."
Robert has previously appeared on numerous popular National Television shows including History Channel’s “MysteryQuest", two episodes of Discovery Channel’s “Most Evil" (Manson and Gangs), a recurring role on A&E’s “Watching the Detectives", "Rescue Me", as well as “30 Rock." He is also well known as the go to guy for voice over work and has done on camera or voice overs for: the LA Dodgers, Dean Koontz’s book, “The Husband", Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), Aquafina Water, GlaxoSmithKline, Mountain Dew, the CIA, the US Marines, Reebok, TGIFridays, Zales Jewelers, Doritos, XpressBet.com, Saratoga Raceway, The National Fair Housing Alliance/State Farm, Mercedes-Benz Fuel Cell Vehicle, AT&T, Avis-Budget Group, Educational testing services and many others. He is currently the voice of the NBC iPhone “Your City" app, and several NBC News Local Affiliates stations including LA, Chicago, DC and Miami, as well as Tesoro Fuel and Knology Cable.
