Danica Patrick sets Super Bowl record for most commercial appearances

When Danica Patrick appeared in her tenth GoDaddy.com Super Bowl commercial Sunday she set a record for the most appearances by a celebrity on football’s biggest day. This was the eighth straight year GoDaddy has run a Super Bowl ad campaign, and the sixth year in which the Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) driver has starred.

GoDaddy.com, the company that also sponsors Patrick in NASCAR, ran two spots Sunday with the former IndyCar driver. Patrick will make her NASCAR Sprint Cup debut in the No. 10 GoDaddy.com Chevrolet in the Daytona 500 on February 26.

In one Super Bowl commercial on Sunday, Patrick teamed up with fitness guru Jillian Michael and the duo applied body paint to an actress to bring attention for the dot co (.co) domains. Later, she appeared with the new Pussycat Dolls in a spot for GoDaddy.com cloud computing.

“Doing Go Daddy's Super Bowl commercials is always interesting, but this year's are epic," Patrick said when announcing the 2012 offerings. "The commercials are very funny – there's physical humor and in the Cloud, there's a big-time dance routine. Yes, I dance. And I'll say this, the dance sequence is as GoDaddy-esque as it gets!"

The dancing, however, was not in the 30-second commercial that aired during the game but was in the longer version posted on the GoDaddy.com website after the shorter version aired.

Although Patrick’s Super Bowl ads are always anticipated, her appearance in the February 26 Daytona 500 will be both heavily anticipated and scrutinized, especially since this will be her first NASCAR Sprint Cup start. Patrick’s entry into NASCAR’s biggest race is assured through an alliance her Stewart-Haas Racing team made with Tommy Baldwin Racing.
