Aston Martin V12 Zagato: Production supercar revealed

The wraps have comes off the production version of the Aston Martin V12 Zagato road car ahead of its world premiere at the 2012 Geneva motor show in March.

The production car represents a subtle evolution of the original Vantage-based V12 Zagato that wowed crowds at last year’s Villa d’Este Concours in Italy.

Perhaps the most stunning work has been done on the inside, where the V12 Zagato scores new flowing hand-stitched red and black quilting across the seats and headliner, evoking a sense of dynamism and movement.

Interior

Just 150 Aston Martin V12 Zagatos will ever be built, and as we reported earlier this week, one of those will find its way to Australia. Production will start in September, with the first deliveries to take place before the end of the year.

Each V12 Zagato takes around 2000 man-hours to complete. The bonnet, ‘double-bubble’ roof and doors are constructed from handcrafted aluminum, while the front and rear bumpers, doorsills and boot lid are made from carbon fiber.

The cockpit features more satin-finished carbon fiber across the dashboard and centre stack, and piano black and satin black textures are used for the switchgear. ‘Z’ embroidery on the headrests and rear parcel shelf adds to the V12 Zagato’s sense of exclusivity.

The 6.0-litre Zagato is expected to cost upwards of $850,000.
