Andretti Sports Marketing Wisconsin Brings “IndyFest” to Milwaukee

UPDATE The event will be held June 15-16, with the race’s green flag scheduled to fly at 12:30 p.m. Eastern on that Saturday afternoon. Andretti, who co-owns Andretti Sports Marketing as well as IndyCar team Andretti Autosport, said the starting time was dictated by the television window that is available; the date was selected so IndyCar could avoid racing on Father’s Day the next day.

Michael Andretti swoops in to save Milwaukee

Andretti Sports Marketing Wisconsin, led by IndyCar team owner Michael Andretti, will promote the Milwaukee IndyFest at the Milwaukee Mile, June 15 and 16. The Father's Day weekend festival will be headlined Saturday afternoon by an internationally televised IZOD IndyCar race and will also include many other events designed to create a memorable family holiday weekend at the Wisconsin State Fair Grounds.

"Andretti Sports Marketing is excited about promoting IndyFest at the Milwaukee Mile," said Michael Andretti, CEO of Andretti Sports Marketing, LLC, and a racer who visited Milwaukee's victory lane five times as a driver and three more times as a team owner. "It's a historic track in a great city, and it's a place that has always been a favorite for my family. But, more importantly, it's an ideal track for Indy cars and always produces exciting racing for the fans."

To lead the event, Kevin Healy has been named Managing Director of Milwaukee IndyFest. Healy is a 30-year veteran of the airline industry and most recently served as Sr. Vice President of Marketing and Planning for AirTran Airways, a long-time sponsor of Andretti Autosport IndyCar teams. The event allows him to combine his love of the Milwaukee community and motorsports.

"When Michael asked if I would like to help bring IndyFest to the Milwaukee Mile, I jumped at the chance," said Healy. "Milwaukee is a great city and I've always thought the racing at the Milwaukee Mile is some of the most exciting on the IndyCar circuit.

"Our goal is to make this more than a race, by creating a festival environment with some unique fan interactions and experiences, a great concert and a celebration of the history of the Milwaukee Mile. We will announce more events in the coming weeks."

"It is essential that we keep The Milwaukee Mile's legacy alive, and we stand committed to continuing its IndyCar racing heritage," said Randy Bernard, CEO of INDYCAR. "We know there are passionate INDYCAR fans in Wisconsin that want to see a successful event at the track. Together with Andretti Sports Marketing, we can deliver great racing at a great value to the loyal fans in the area while adding to the storied history of The Mile."

Tickets will go on sale March 1, but fans who would like more details or to be notified when the tickets are available can sign-up on the event website at www.MilwaukeeMile.com.
