Daytona 500: Delay could impact travel to Phoenix
If the race has to be delayed again, it could impact travel to next week's Subway Fresh Fit 500 at Phoenix International Raceway. Teams would have to travel back to their garages to reload other cars before continuing to Phoenix.
Several drivers said the engines and cars are ready for Phoenix but are waiting for the trucks to be exchanged.
"More than anything, I think it's going to be a pain in the butt for the guys driving the haulers that have to get there, unload it, and load the other car and leave," said A.J. Allmendinger. "So it'll be a little bit tough for those guys but for me, no big deal." While rain is predicted here again Monday, it could clear up by the afternoon or evening. Daytona International Speedway's lights ensure that NASCAR will try to run the race if at all possible on Monday.
"The thing is that (Monday) doesn't look any better," said Jason Ratcliff, crew chief for Joey Logano's No. 20 car. "Hopefully, it will turn into a night race. I like night races." Orlando Sentinel
