Troubles slow Vettel on final testing day

Sebastian Vettel's final day of pre-season testing has turned troublesome after a number of issues for the German severely limited his running in Barcelona.

Issues with the gearbox and an off-track excursion that damaged the nose on the car mean that Vettel sat bottom of the times heading into the final two hours of running – having completed just 15 laps.

“This morning I went off track and it broke the front wing, and then it took quite a while to get back out on track again," he said during a media briefing at Catalunya. “Then just before lunch I suffered a problem with the gearbox and we have to fix it and get back out."

“It wouldn't be fair so far to judge it because I have done so few laps," he said. “[However] you never really know where you are until you get to Melbourne and everyone puts their cards down and you show what you have got in qualifying.

“In testing, you always have things you hope were better, there are not many years you can give yourselves a ten out of ten. Overall we can be quite happy, happier than five and less than ten. Somewhere in between."
