Cooper Tire Extends Commitment to IMSA’s Prototype Lites
"Cooper Tire is proud to be part of the IMSA Development Series with the Prototype Lites, and the extension of our agreement showcases that excitement," stated Chris Pantani, director of motorsports for Cooper Tire. "It's been a great partnership with IMSA, and the recent inclusion of Mazda really shows the strength of what the Prototype Lites has to offer."
With the addition of the new CTTC, Prototype Lites will have their own dedicated technical center for the first time in series’ history. The CTTC will feature a new state-of-the-art, wireless electronic scale system and inspection pads along with the other tools necessary to ensure safe, equal competition specifically for Prototype Lites. The CTTC will be part of an expanded Cooper Tire’s trackside tire support trailer.
“The Cooper Tires Prototype Lites Powered by Mazda series previously shared inspection resources with our other IMSA series," said Steve Sewell, IMSA Development Series Director. “Thanks to the generosity of our partner Cooper Tire, Art Bruening and the rest of the Lites Technical Staff now have their own dedicated area to more readily go about the task of inspecting our Élan and West prototype racing cars. This permanent addition to the IMSA paddock speaks volumes of the long-term commitment Cooper Tires has made to this premier development program."
The 2012 Cooper Tires Prototype Lites season gets underway with March 14-17 with a pair of races at the famed Sebring International Raceway during the 60th Anniversary of the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh from Florida weekend.
