As predicted, Superleague Formula throws in the towel

What was long suspected is now confirmed. The Superleague Formula championship will definitely not be run this year. With only two races held in 2011, already a veil of uncertainty hung over the championship. Whether this is the final swan song of the spectacular single-seaters means, is still conjecture.

The championship started in 2008 at Donington with many showing the flag, although the proposed combination with major European football clubs never provided what was expected of it. European football clubs functioned initially as a sponsor with the championship the slogan "Football at 300 km / h.

Although everything necessary was done to promote the desire to get soccer fans and racing fans closer together, this was never realized. Only a handful of football fans found their way to the tracks. The link with football disappeared last year when more than half of the participating teams were no longer associated with the world's most popular sport. Although the former A1GP series had nothing to do with football, this championship more or less the same fate. Whether we will see the spectacular V12 cars in 2013 again in action, remains to be seen … we at AR1 don't think so.
