SMI Unveils $4M In Upgrades To Charlotte Motor Speedway
Speedway Motorsports Inc. officials today unveiled $4M in upgrades to Charlotte Motor Speedway. Among the improvements are “The Hub," a new private infield compound, and Champions Pavilion, a premium, all-inclusive indoor/outdoor ticket package. "The Hub" encompasses individual sites for motor coaches, tents and other mobile units with a private entrance, concierge service, pre-race pit access and 24-hour security.
The cost per 2,500-square-foot space is $7,500 per race weekend and $20,000 for the year. Race tickets are not included. Champions Pavilion is a new 12,000-square-foot building inside Turn 4 overlooking pit road. For the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Coca-Cola 600 on May 27, pavilion tickets are $1,000 a person. The cost covers catering, unlimited beverages including beer and wine, and access to a roof top observation deck to watch the race. Separately, SMI announced that children under age 13 will be admitted free to most events this year at the speedway, including Nationwide Series races. Sprint Cup races are excluded.
