Danica can’t handle a loose race car

Not every race car driver is talented enough to drive a car loose. It absolutely can be nerve wracking. But if you can do it you're great, and of you can't well, it's going to be a long race staying out of everyone's way.

If it was a 100% throttle high downforce IndyCar Danica Patrick could mix it up with the boys. But if you have to hang the tail out and run the car loose (the fast way around the race track) Danica would always fall back. Friday night in Richmond was no different.

She fought a loose racecar all night in what turned out to be a long evening culminating in a 21st-place finish, two laps behind winner Kurt Busch.

Busch won the race after a last-lap battle with Denny Hamlin for the first Nationwide win for Kyle Busch Motorsports, his younger brother’s team.

“We were just extremely loose—extremely loose the whole time," Patrick said after a race that featured a 126-lap green-flag run to the finish that didn’t allow much time for adjustments. “Entry and exit (in the corners) were difficult. … Every change made it better when I went out.

“But it always got to the point of loose again. It was definitely hell waiting for that last stop (during that green-flag run)."
