Man shot Sunday morning outside Indy Speedway
Further on the drunk as a skunk themes, a man was transported to the hospital early Friday morning after he was stabbed on the camp grounds near the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Officers with the Speedway Police Department responded to the camping area known as the Coke lot at approximately 1 a.m. Preliminary investigation revealed an argument occurred, which prompted a physical altercation.
The victim was transported to Wishard Hospital in critical condition, and his condition was later upgraded to stable. Police said the suspect, Charles Beasley, was chased and apprehended by witnesses of the stabbing. Beasley was arrested and transported to Wishard Hospital to receive treatment for injured he sustained in the altercation.
Speedway detectives said they will present the case to the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office for official charges.
Police said alcohol was a factor in the incident.
The police department said they will increase the police presence on the camping and guest parking areas on the IMS property for the race weekend.
