Maldonado penalized and loses final point

Pastor Maldonado has been given a drive-through penalty, which converts to a time penalty of 20 seconds, for his part in the incident with Lewis Hamilton on the penultimate lap of the European Grand Prix. The contact left the McLaren driver in the tire barriers.

As Hamilton struggled with shot tires, he was passed first by Kimi Raikkonen for second place before Maldonado attacked around the outside of Turn 12. The touch came on the apex of Turn 13, putting the McLaren into the air and breaking the Williams’ front wing.

Although Maldonado slides down the order to 12th place, Williams receives no loss in the Constructors’ Championship as team-mate Bruno Senna inherits tenth position.
