Click here: Dodge skipping Martinsville test with no 2013 teams lined up
“Earlier this week, NASCAR announced that all four manufacturers have met the necessary targets for their 2013 Sprint Cup Series race cars," said Beth Paretta, director of marketing and operations for the SRT Brand and Motorsports.
“Due to the lack of time to prepare for the on-track test for the 2013 cars scheduled next week at Martinsville, we have elected to forgo that test opportunity."
Scheduled to test the cars next week are Kevin Harvick and Jimmie Johnson in Chevrolets, Carl Edwards in a Ford and Martin Truex Jr. in a Toyota.
Even though it will miss this test, there will be plenty of tests for Dodge to participate in and get ready for 2013 if it signs teams to run its cars.
The first 2013 car test open to all teams will be Oct. 4 at Talladega Superspeedway, a day before the race weekend there.
Goodyear will then conduct another tire test for the 2013 car Oct. 9-10 at Texas Motor Speedway.
Teams also will be able to bring 2013 cars to the open test days Oct. 17-18 at Kansas Speedway. Those test days are to give teams extra practice time prior to the race weekend because of the Kansas track was repaved during the summer.
The 2013 cars are designed to give more manufacturer identity to the Cup vehicles. Sporting News
