Silverstone seeking $250m injection

Silverstone has until the end of this year to find $250M or the BRDC may look to renting or even selling parts of the land.

Formula One is an expensive business, not only with paying the hosting the fee but also keeping the track's standards to the highest level. It has bankrupted many a track.

Last year, the British Racing Drivers' Club, who own the Silverstone circuit, spent £27m on a new pit and paddock complex.

However, more work still needs to be done on the Northamptonshire track especially after rain caused havoc at this year's British Grand Prix.

"By the end of the year at the latest we will have either done a comprehensive deal for all of Silverstone or we will maybe be talking to entities about renting or buying a long lease on parts of the non-circuit land," Stuart Rolt, chairman of the BRDC told the Daily Telegraph.
