Petrov: I expect to keep Caterham seat

Vitaly Petrov believes he has done enough to justify a Caterham race seat for the 2013 Formula 1 season. The Russian, who picked up a maiden podium finish with Renault last year, joined Heikki Kovalainen at the start of the current campaign.

“Of course, you always want to do better, although in the first half of the season I have often been ahead of my team-mate in qualifying," Petrov tells the Russian media.

“I am happy with everything in general, satisfied with 70 or 80 percent of my work. I’m showing good speed in the races and haven’t made many mistakes, so I think I’ve become a better driver despite the fact I had to move team."

“I would be worried if we were talking about leaving Caterham, or being kicked out," he begins to sum up. "But because I’ve had good results and am working well inside this team, I see no reason for that to happen."
