UPDATE ESPN’s live telecast of the Pure Michigan 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Michigan International Speedway on Sunday, Aug. 19, earned a 3.8 'final' household coverage rating (3.3 U.S. rating), averaging 5,199,791 viewers, according to the Nielsen Company. The race was the first to not air against the Olympics since ESPN took over the NASCAR Sprint Cup schedule at the end of July and the rating was up from a 3.7 for last year’s race.
ESPN’s live telecast of the NASCAR Nationwide Series race in Montreal on Saturday, Aug. 18, earned a 1.4 household coverage rating (1.2 U.S. rating), averaging 1,720,183 viewers. Last year’s race telecast earned a 1.5 rating.
08/21/12 ESPN finished with a 3.2 overnight for coverage of Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Pure Michigan 400, flat compared to the same race last year.
