Video: Stewart throws helmet at Kenseth
Stewart and Kenseth were racing for the lead on Lap 332 when they got together on the frontstretch, sending both drivers spinning into the inside wall. Angry at the contact, Stewart flung his helmet at Kenseth’s car under caution. Stewart then turned and fist-pumped the crowd.
“I checked up twice (off the gas) to not run over him and I learned my lesson there—I’m going to run over him every him every chance I’ve got from now until the end of the year, every chance I’ve got," Stewart said.
Kenseth held the lead on a restart on Lap 329, but Stewart dove to his inside for the lead on Lap 332. Kenseth then dove back beneath Stewart and the two raced side by side out of Turn 4.
Kenseth slid up, Stewart came down and the two drivers slammed doors down the frontstretch before finally spinning near Turn 1.
“We got by Matt there, and it probably wasn’t the ideal pass, but we made sure to try the same thing (every time)," Stewart said. “We ran on the restart faster than him each lap, so we just learned our lesson that next time just drive through him, not even be patient by him. We’re not going to give him that chance again."
Kenseth had led earlier in the race, while Stewart had rallied from going a lap down early in the race. Sporting News
