Dillon Wins Truck Series Pole
Dillon turned in a lap of 177.357 mph in the afternoon session to secure his second career truck series pole. Tim George scored the outside pole with a lap of 177.028 to give Richard Childress Racing a clean sweep of the front row. James Buescher (176.611 mph) was third, followed by Kyle Busch (176.583 mph) and Nelson Piquet, Jr. (176.353 mph).
Dillon, in his rookie season in the truck series, comes into Friday's race third in points and will be looking to rebound from a disappointing 21st-place finish after running out of gas late in the race last weekend at Bristol.
"It's a relief to get another pole, and here at Atlanta, it's such a tricky track," said Dillon. "I didn't think we were going to qualify that good. I knew we had a really good racetruck, I thought we were going to be too tight for qualifying, and it ended up being really good.
"How about RCR on the front row? Couldn't be more happy for my guys – they really deserve it after what happened last week."
Johnny Sauter will start sixth, followed by Miguel Paludo and series points leader Timothy Peters. Parker Kligerman and Matt Crafton rounded out the top ten.
