Briscoe leads practice 3 in Baltimore
Hot off his win last weekend in Sonoma, Penske Chevy driver Ryan Briscoe turned the fastest lap in final practice for the Baltimore GP. On a track that was wet to start with, but later dried, Briscoe beat Foyt-Honda driver Mike Conway and his Penske teammate Helio Castroneves.
The new 2-curb chicane (left-right) was installed on the front straight last night and today was the first chance the drivers had a chance to try it out. Last year's chicane was a 3-curb design (left-right-left) and slower.
Takuma Sato was 4th in his Rahal-Honda, one of his better sessions of the year, while pole favorite Will Power was an uncharacteristic 15th.
There were several incidents during the session including a big crash by JR Hildebrand after the session finished when he got the chicane all wrong and stuffed it into the front straight wall.
