IndyCar doubleheader at Belle Isle leaves no room for Lights

The Firestone Indy Lights race will not return to Belle Isle next summer. The event, won by Colombian Gustavo Yacaman on June 2, has been shelved for 2013 in favor of the IZOD IndyCar Series doubleheader June 1-2.

With a weekend on the island already featuring Grand-Am sports cars and SCCA World Challenge Series events, promoters of the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix (May 31-June 2) could not fit in the Indy Lights race, they say.
