SPEED’s Robin Miller Reacts to Randy Bernard Dismissal on Wind Tunnel
“Its shark infested waters. It was a board meeting, probably conducted over the telephone. I think it had to take a majority of those 10 board of directors to vote him out, and obviously that’s what happened. It’s the most heinous way to treat somebody that I have ever seen. It’s a low class, amateur move – it’s been going on all summer. Rumors, innuendos, guys dropping hints. Guy worked his butt off and you treat a guy like this, and he’s pretty well respected by a lot of pretty big people in this country. It gives IndyCar racing such a bad, bad taste, bad reputation and it makes them look so amateurish. To read that release, to truly read it was the biggest crock. He was thrown out, period. He didn’t want to leave."
What happens now?
“Will they leave this series to Tony George because he has this group of investors in place? I don’t know what they do. I know this, the reaction from the fans is going to be violent, and its going to be negative because of Randy – because he listened to them – and they didn’t like Tony George because of what they saw in the last 10 years. You talk about a series that can’t afford to lose any fans, IndyCar is number one."
