IndyCar, America’s new Edsel

The new IndyCar is the Edsel of its time

A reader writes, Dear AR1.com, My hats off to you. When the new IndyCar was revealed you called it the ugliest racecar ever designed that would send the fans heading to the exits in droves. Well you were right, TV ratings plummeted this year and attendance was poor at most venues. Dan Bird

Dear Dan, Yes, the car is butt ugly but being a 'spec' car it races well so the 'show' was good. Too bad hardly anyone was there to watch it. It is the Edsel of our era – a car that drove customers from the showrooms about as fast as the new IndyCar drives fans from the sport. It replaces the 2nd ugliest car ever created by mankind. We hate to see what the next generation Dallara will look like. Mark C.
