Dunlop drops out of ALMS

Scott Atherton, President and CEO of the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patr¢n, offers the following statement on Dunlop’s announcement that it is concentrating solely on European-based championships for the 2013 season.

“Dunlop achieved multiple race wins and championships in the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patr¢n," Atherton said. “We thank Jean-Felix Bazelin and his team for the support and level of competition they brought to our prototype and GT classes for the past several years. Dunlop’s decision to concentrate on its European activities is understandable – and yes, disappointing. However we still enjoy strong manufacturer participation from Michelin, Falken and Yokohama going into the 2013 ALMS championship along with on-going discussions from other tire brands investigating ALMS involvement."
