Webber not planning on helping Vettel

Mark Webber avoided a direct answer when asked on Saturday if he will be helping teammate Sebastian Vettel to a third world title. Having qualified third in Brazil, the Australian is one place ahead of his championship-leading teammate after managing to beat the German on a Saturday for the ninth time out of 20 this season.

“We got the most out of that, but it was disappointing not to get onto the front row," Webber said immediately after the session. “I thought the lap would be enough, but we were a tenth off; it’s always tight here in qualifying. In the last race of the season it would have been good to get pole, but fair play to McLaren."

Unsure about Sunday’s weather, Webber was then asked whether he will be playing a supporting role to Vettel who is on-track for a third championship victory.

“I think that we’ll focus on ourselves tomorrow," he responded. “The weather will maybe be tricky and it’s a long Grand Prix, so I’ll just focus on my efforts and try to get to the finish as quickly as possible."
