Third child for Carpenter

Ed Carpenter Racing celebrated the addition of its newest team member Thursday evening with birth of a little boy, Cruz Smith Carpenter, at 6:05 p.m. EST with a weight of eight pounds and ten ounces.

Cruz is the third child of proud parents Ed and Heather Carpenter and both baby and mother are doing well this evening. The newest Carpenter joins an older sister, Makenna (5), and older brother, Ryder (3), as part of the ECR racing team.

Ed Carpenter, team owner/driver of the No. 20 ECR/Fuzzy’s Ultra Premium Vodka Chevrolet IndyCar, won the 2012 IZOD IndyCar Series season finale on September 15 in the MAVTV 500 at Auto Club Speedway.

“We are blessed to welcome Cruz Smith Carpenter tonight," said Carpenter. “Heather and Cruz are doing well. Heather is awesome! Thanks to everyone for their best wishes. We are so excited."

The newest Carpenter will enjoy the unique birthday of 12/12/12.

Ed was able to test his Fuzzy’s Vodka Chevy machine last week at Auto Club Speedway, then return to Indianapolis for the IndyCar Series banquet and other media activities later in the week before the blessed event today.

Needless to say, this holiday season will be a special one for the Carpenter family.
