Ericsson and Richelmi sign for DAMS
Swede Ericsson joins from iSport, where he finished 10th and eight in the Championship in the last two seasons, while Monegasque Richelmi makes the switch from Trident after finishing 18th in the rankings last year.
"I'm extremely proud to get the opportunity to drive for DAMS," said Ericsson, who will be leading the team as he enters his fourth year at this level. “After testing successfully together in the Jerez post-season tests, there were no doubts as to where I wanted to be in 2013."
The Swede feels optimistic about his 2013 prospects, counting on the form shown by DAMS over the last seasons.
"Their results over the last couple of years say it all," stated the 22-year-old in regards to the Championship-winning campaign of DAMS drivers Romain Grosjean and Davide Valsecchi. “I feel ready to fight at the front of the championship together with DAMS."
This optimism is shared within the team as well, with CEO Jean-Paul Driot believing the choice of drivers can set the team on the way for further success.
“We've been GP2 champions for the last two years and we're hungry for more," said the team principal. “Both Marcus and Stéphane have experience in GP2 and they’re bringing us a perfect combination of maturity and fieriness. I’m convinced that we’re going to enjoy another great season in GP2 with them."
