D’Ambrosio still pushing for race seat

Jerome d'Ambrosio

Jerome d'Ambrosio is refusing to give up on his chances of securing a Formula 1 race seat in 2013, despite Force India and Caterham holding the only vacant spots. The Belgian, who is under the wing of Gravity Sport Management, was dropped by Marussia after his debut season in 2011 and spent last year as Lotus's reserve driver.

"I'm continuing to strive for Formula 1 because that's my thing," D'Ambrosio explained to Belgium's Sportmagazine. "My management company is working hard but it is difficult because many experienced drivers have not yet got a seat. We shall see."

D'Ambrosio is most likely to retain his Lotus role next season, with Team Principal Eric Boullier – who is also in charge of Gravity – impressed by his performance when substituting for the banned Romain Grosjean at the 2012 Italian Grand Prix. The 26-year-old could also make a switch to DTM, having tested for Mercedes last month.
