Chip Ganassi Racing, Lucas Oil Renew Partnership

INDIANAPOLIS (Jan. 24, 2013) – Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates (CGRFS) and Lucas Oil Products, Inc., have renewed their technical and sponsorship partnership in the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series which begins with the team’s two-car assault at the Rolex 24 At Daytona on Jan. 26-27.

The CGRFS No. 01 and No. 02 Dinan-prepared BMW-powered Rileys will both use light weight gear oils developed by Lucas Oil technical director Mark Negast and his team, continuing a relationship that began in 2009, in the grueling 24-hour race on the Daytona International Speedway’s 3.56–mile road course. CGRFS has won the prestigious race four times, most recently in 2011.

“I can’t think of a better place to prove our Lucas Oil works than in 24 hours of all-out racing," Lucas Oil Director of Motorsports Tom Bogner said. “We have had great success working with the Ganassi team using our oils. These light weight oils are critical to performance and fuel efficiency. We’re very proud to contribute and be a partner with a team that has won so many championships."

The No. 01 driven by Scott Pruett and Memo Rojas will be attempting to win their fourth straight GRAND-AM championship this season. They will be joined by 2000 Indianapolis 500 winner Juan Pablo Montoya and IZOD IndyCar Series driver Charlie Kimball at Daytona.

The No. 02, scheduled to race only in the Rolex 24, will have an all-star lineup of Team Target IndyCar drivers Dario Franchitti and Scott Dixon, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Jamie McMurray and sports car star Joey Hand.

“Lucas Oil’s renewing partnership with our Daytona Prototype program is a key component to our success on track in the Rolex Sports Car Series," said CGRFS President Steve Lauletta. “We look forward to getting started again in Daytona this weekend and beginning our title defense of a fourth-consecutive championship with Scott and Memo."

The 51st Rolex 24 begins at 3:30 p.m. ET.
