Texas Motor Speedway unveils new rainout policy for fans

Texas Motor Speedway will take a different approach this year as it will allow fans that cannot stay for the makeup date to exchange their ticket for another Texas race within the next year.

The policy doesn’t guarantee the fan the same exact seat, but it gives those who cannot stay for the makeup date (typically the next day), the option of a Cup ticket for one of the next two Cup races or the IndyCar race.

Many tracks offer ticket insurance that would cover weather delays but the ticket exchange is apparently unprecedented in NASCAR.

The track changed the policy based on fan surveys.

“It never was on my radar screen to think about rainout policies," Texas Motor Speedway President Eddie Gossage said. “I never gave it any thought. These surveys opened our eyes."
