With a TV partner like that, who needs enemies
NBC Sports Network website |
A reader writes, Dear AR1.com, So it's been well documented all the issues IndyCar has with their existing TV contract with Versus/NBC Sports. It goes a little further than that. I was checking the NBC Sports website to see just how well they've started to cover F1 (since testing started today), and after being rather disappointed with their lack of coverage especially since Speed.com has up-to-date times from testing, I looked a little further down the page and noticed something odd.
Take a look at the "More on IndyCar" section at the bottom of their page (I've attached a screen capture)… ummm…. don't think that's an IndyCar…
I can just see the discussion taking place on the web content team when they set this up: "Ummm… I guess that's an IndyCar, it doesn't have any fenders on it… it's not like anyone is paying attention anyway."
If the website of INDYCAR’s TV contract owner doesn't worry about getting it right, what hope does IndyCar have? If I were one of INDYCAR’s media minions, I'd be getting a hold of NBC Sports and giving them a rather direct and vocal education on where they can find good images of an IndyCar. Wonder how long it will take before they notice? Mika Malehorn
