Briscoe resigned to sports car racing for 2013

Ryan Briscoe

Ryan Briscoe told speedtv.com that he isn’t sure what or where he’ll be driving this season in North America, but because he has very limited opportunities in IndyCar this season, a return to sports car racing is high on Briscoe's priority list.

A call from Briscoe earlier in the week confirmed he’s out of the running for any of the fulltime IndyCar drives left in the series, but could return for the Indy 500 while seeking other opportunities in road racing.

"Opportunities have been dwindling, but my first priority is IndyCar," said the 2012 Indy 500 polesitter. "That’s where I want to be first and foremost. We’re still working hard towards making something happen, but outside of that, we’ve been getting a lot of interest in doing part-time stuff in sports cars."

"I’d love to do the 12 Hours of Sebring again; I’d love to do any of the ALMS events or DP in GRAND-AM," he said. "I’ve always wanted to race at Le Mans and a lot of the iconic endurance races, so I’m wide open to the right opportunity. And at this point in the game, a month out from the IndyCar season opener, of course we’re hopeful something will happen, but we’re looking at what ALMS or GRAND-AM seats could be open for me.

"I have three races later in the year with HRT (the factory Holden V8 Supercars team), but that’s it at the moment."
