Barber Motorsports Park will host IndyCar Open Test
IZOD IndyCar Series teams will be on the 2.38-mile circuit in Birmingham, Ala., that features 80 feet of elevation change, March 12-13 for the Open Test. Firestone Indy Lights teams will test at the facility March 11.
Teams will return to Barber Motorsports Park less than a month later for the April 5-7 Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama and Legacy Indy Lights 100.
Barber Motorsports Park season pass holders will have special access to view the test on the afternoon of Tuesday, March 12. Additionally, season pass holders have access to all of the spectator events at Barber Motorsports Park including the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama, Legacy Indy Lights 100, Porsche 250, Triumph Superbike Classic, Barber Vintage Festival presented by Triumph Dealers of North America, and more. Season Passes are still available and can be purchased at www.barbermotorsports.com.
During the Barber test, IZOD IndyCar Series teams will be able to practice standing starts, which will be featured during Race 1 of the doubleheader events at Toronto and Houston this season. The first pit box on pit road will be set up with a monitoring and lighting system, allowing drivers to practice the standing start launch.
