Firestone Racing extends Texas race sponsorship

Firestone Racing Executive Director Al Speyer announced March 4 at Texas Motor Speedway’s annual media day that the tire manufacturer has signed a three-year extension as the race entitlement sponsor for the IZOD IndyCar Series race at Texas Motor Speedway.

The title sponsorship of the Firestone 550 extends through 2015. The race on June 8 (8:30 p.m. ET) will be first prime-time IZOD IndyCar Series race broadcast by ABC. Justin Wilson of Dale Coyne Racing prevailed in the drama-filled race last year, overtaking Graham Rahal’s mishandling car on Lap 226 of 228. It was the first oval victory of Wilson’s career.

"Firestone Racing is thrilled to announce this extension with Texas Motor Speedway, which will make it a six-year run of continuous race title sponsorship from 2010 to 2015," Speyer said. “It continues our long-standing partnership with Eddie Gossage and his great staff that goes all the way back to 1997.

“This year's Firestone 550 comes as we gear up for the highly anticipated July release of the DreamWorks ‘Turbo’ animated film, where the Firestone brand will be prominently featured. We are very excited about the movie premiere, just as we are to see the Firestone 550 continue for another three years and for its live prime-time broadcast this June on ABC-TV.

“In my opinion, the IZOD IndyCar Series at Texas Motor Speedway features some of the best racing on the planet and the Firestone brand is proud to be associated with it."

Firestone is sponsoring a sweepstakes associated with “Turbo" and the Indianapolis 500, with the grand prize of a trip for four to the 500 Mile Race on May 26 (includes round-trip transportation, hotel, four tickets and prepaid Firestone MasterCard for incidentals). There are other prizes, too. Enter HERE
