Penske worth $1.2 billion

UPDATE Mexican Carlos Slim remains the richest man in the world with a net worth of $73 Billion. He of course is sponsoring F1 drivers Perez and Gutierrez and bringing back the Mexican GP. He was behind CART's big IndyCar push into Mexico, but that was destroyed by the IRL taking away CART's biggest race, the Indy 500, which ultimately led to the demise of CART. And former IndyCar team own John Menard is 56th richest and worth $7 billion.

03/05/13 According to Forbes Magazine Roger Penske is the 377th richest person in the USA with a net worth of $1.2 billion, self made. Former race car driver Roger Penske is one of the richest people in racing. He owns his own NASCAR and IndyCar team, Penske Racing. The billionaire founded his eponymous company in 1969, distributing diesel engines for GM. Today, Penske Auto Group operates more than 300 car dealerships, both in the United States and abroad. While the recession briefly knocked Penske's net worth below a billion dollars in the middle of 2011, Penske is back up. In 2009, Penske abandoned his attempt to buy car-maker Saturn from GM and turn it into an independent company. An alumnus of Lehigh University, Penske is a director of GE and the Universal Technical Institute, Inc.
