Franchitti Fastest in Damp Sebring Session
Marino Franchitti set the best time in a soggy one-hour test session for the 61st Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh from Florida on Tuesday. The Scottish star set a best lap of 2:15.391 (99.445 mph) in Level 5 Motorsports’ No. 055 Honda Performance Development ARX-03b prototype as only three cars posted times.
Franchitti drives this weekend with Scott Tucker and Ryan Briscoe.
There stands to be considerably more action in Tuesday afternoon’s 4:50 p.m. test. Skies are expected to clear, and track conditions will be much more favorable. The forecast for the rest of the week calls for sunny skies and warm temperatures, so many teams elected to sit out the morning session.
TRG’s No. 68 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup made the most of the session with 16 laps. The best time was a 2:20.618 (95.749 mph) for the car driven by Al Carter and Kevin Estre. NGT Motorsport’s No. 30 Porsche of Sean Edwards, Henrique Cisneros and Marco Seefried turned a 2:29.442 (90.095 mph).
