No. 42 Sahlen’s Riley-BMW Fined, Penalized

GRAND-AM Road Racing has issued a fine and point penalties to the No. 42 BMW/Riley Daytona Prototype team that competes in the Rolex Sports Car Series, as a result of a rule infraction discovered following the April 6 event at Barber Motorsports Park.

The No. 42 was found in violation of Section DP-GCR 8-1.2 (“overall width must be between 77-79 inches") of the GRAND-AM Rule Book. The No. 42’s front dive planes were found to be in excess of the maximum width by approximately three-eighths inch.

As a result:

*The team, Team Sahlen, has been fined $2,000 and penalized with the loss of two team championship points;

*Drivers Dane Cameron and Wayne Nonnamaker have each been penalized two driver championship points;

*BMW has been penalized two manufacturer championship points.
