Indy Family Foundation Hosts Huge Party A Few Blocks from IMS
The "Festival on Main" street fair will be a fun experience for the entire family and will include live music, unique food and beer presentations, a custom car and motorcycle show, a special "KidZone" as well as other family-oriented activities. The event will take place "rain or shine" on May 10 and general admission will be free.
The "Festival on Main" will be located in front of Indy car racing shops of the Dallara Cars and Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing, just a few blocks from the famed 16th and Georgetown entrance to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Proceeds from the "Festival on Main" will go to the Indy Family Foundation, a non-profit organization that aids those in the motor sports community who find themselves in financial need due to hardship caused by illness, injury or death.
Drivers from the 2013 Indy 500 and local celebrities will participate in a variety of events throughout the evening including the Celebrity Dunk Tank as well as photo opportunities. The Dallara Racing Experience "Street Legal" two-seater Indy car will give rides throughout the evening, and the Dallara IndyCar Factory will be available for tours.
The "KidZone" area features bounce houses, pedal cart races, "paint" your own "Hot Wheels" cars, obstacle course, Sumo wrestling suits, Fire Safety House demonstrations, glitter tattoo stations and face painting. The fee for the "KidZone" will be $10 for an unlimited play wristband and $25 for a "Family Pack" of unlimited play.
"We are extremely excited to announce the inaugural ‘Festival on Main" this year," said Heather Carpenter, president of the Indy Family Foundation and wife of IZOD IndyCar Series driver/owner Ed Carpenter. "We feel this event will be a tremendous way for racing fans and the Indianapolis community to kick off the Indy 500 activities. It will be a great way for the families to participate in a street party and will assist a great charitable cause."
In addition to the variety of events in the "Festival on Main," the patrons will have the opportunity to visit a special local "Craft Brew Garden" featuring eight local beer companies. Food will be available through the Cluster Food Truck Congregation with a cavalcade of food parade.
The custom car and motorcycle show, displayed on Main Street in Speedway, will have a limited number of entrants. The winning machines will be awarded with "bronze" badges which will be good for the entire month of May at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway or special suite passes. Pre-registration for the vehicles will be $25 with Event Day registration at $35. Pre-registration is available at www.indyfamilyfoundation.org.
