Rain washes NHRA at zMax Friday
Afternoon rain showers and the possibility of tornados in the area forced NHRA officials to cancel the Friday qualifying sessions mid-way through the Pro Stock category. Shane Gray, Denver, Colorado has a leg up on his first career No. 1 qualifier behind the wheel of the Gray Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro as the provisional Pro Stock No. 1 with a time of 6.601 seconds at 210.67 mph. Only three quartets of Pro Stock cars completed qualifying efforts before the rains deluged zMax Dragway.
In Pro Stock Motorcycle John Hall of Hamden, Connecticut was the provisional No. 1 with a time of 6.930 at 191.08 mph in his first attempt at the Dollar General NHRA Four-Wide Nationals. Nineteen Pro Stock Motorcycles are vying for sixteen qualifying positions. At the inaugural Four-Wide event Matt Smith won the category and today he finished as the provisional No. 4 qualifier.
The Saturday schedule for the 4th annual Dollar General NHRA Four Wide Nationals will remain unchanged with Nitro qualifying at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
