Indy Pole Day, 4:00 report
Carlos Munoz – one fast rookie |
All drivers are through their first attempts on the track, and here’s how the top nine stand at this point:
Row 1: Will Power (228.844 mph), Ryan Hunter-Reay (228.282), Carlos Munoz (228.171)
Row 2: Helio Castroneves (227.975), Ed Carpenter (227.952), Marco Andretti (227.893)
Row 3: A.J. Allmendinger (227.761), E.J. Viso (227.612), James Hinchcliffe (227.493)
05/18/13 Everyone who wants to make a first time attempt has done so. And it’s a complete walk for Chevy power, claiming (so far) all of the Fast 9 spots. All 5 Andretti Autosport cars are in, as are the three Penske cars. Ed Carpenter is the lone interloper, 6th provisionally.
Among those looking in from the outside: – Katherine Legge has yet to make a run this month, but has put her money down and is entered. – James Jakes would be in the show, but failed tech. – Pippa Mann had her fastest lap on the warm-up. Obviously she will be back out with another run. – Buddy Lazier thought he had enough speed to safely make the race. Then again, that was with 33 cars entered. – Tristan Vautier, rookie with a good team.
