Honda ‘ups’ its IndyCar game

Honda has introduced a new simulator in Brownsburg that will give IndyCar and American LeMans Series drivers a virtual look at the tracks on which they race.

But it’s for Honda drivers only.

The simulator sits on six shocks that lunge 6 feet in any direction to provide the right G-force loads on road courses and oval tracks. Everything from tire degradation to engine performance is measured.

The steering wheel is from Ganassi Racing’s lot.

There will be two high-tech simulators in this market by next year’s 500. Dallara is scheduled to have one at its Main Street facility in Speedway by next March. Indy Star
