Karthikeyan (Super Nova) tops opening practice

The new partnership between Narain Karthikeyan and Super Nova International started in the best possible way at Silverstone. The Indian racer, who comes from positive Formula 1 stints with Jordan and HRT, logged the fastest lap of the first free Auto GP practice session at the UK venue.

The Super Nova car recorded a time of 1’47"183, with Karthikeyan edging team-mate Vittorio Ghirelli by 0.025s. The British squad's pair delivered an 1-2 performance to edge Kimiya Sato (Euronova Racing) by almost half a second, while Kevin Giovesi, making his debut for Ghinzani Motorsport, topped Meindert van Buuren, who rounded out the top-5.

Hungarian racer Tamas Pal Kiss, moving for this round from MLR71 to Zele Racing, ended up in 6th place trailed by Ghinzani's Robert Visoiu. Ibiza Racing Team's Sergio Campana took 8th place in front of the MP Motorsport duo of Riccardo Agostini and GP2 Series runner Daniel De Jong.
