Marty Hunt Joins Grand Prix of America

Marty Hunt joins the Formula One Grand Prix of America at Port Imperial as director of operations and the newest member of its senior executive team. Hunt has worked in raceway operational management for more than 25 years, bringing vast experience and knowledge to the event. He joins an established team that recently welcomed motorsports leader Christopher Pook. Other executive team members include YES Network founding chairman and CEO Leo Hindery, Jr., sports and entertainment veteran Dennis Robinson, and sports marketing and corporate development executive Dick Goldschmidt.

"As we continue to get ready for 2014, I am pleased to welcome Marty Hunt as our newest senior executive," race promoter Hindery said. "Few people in our sport are as accomplished as Marty Hunt in getting the cars to the starting grid and giving the fans an exciting, safe race."

Most recently, Hunt served as the director of facilities at Circuit of the Americas. He previously served as operations manager for the Richard Petty Driving Experience and senior director of facility and operations at Chicagoland Speedway and Route 66 Raceway. He also spent nearly 10 years at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, first as manager of track racing operations and later as director of operations.

The inaugural Grand Prix of America at Port Imperial is planned for June 2014. It will run on a 3.2-mile course using existing streets in Weehawken and West New York, N.J., along the Hudson River and across the top of the Palisades, with the New York City skyline as the backdrop. More than 100,000 people are expected to attend over the course of three days, including practice on Friday, qualifying on Saturday and the Formula One race on Sunday. Most attendees will access the site through public transportation. The race, which will receive no subsidies from either local or state government, is expected to generate more than $100 million in annual economic benefits for New Jersey and New York. The GP America headquarters are shared between Port Imperial, N.J., and Manhattan, N.Y.
