Bennett To Lead USCR Management Team
The inaugural USCR season will begin next January with the season-opening 52nd running of the Rolex 24 under IMSA sanctioning.
The senior leadership team will be comprised:
- Ed Bennett — chief executive officer
- Scott Atherton — president and chief operating officer
- Richard Buck — vice president, racing operations
- Scot Elkins — vice president, competition and technical regulations
- David Pettit — vice president, marketing
“These changes are designed to help us achieve our goals for the remainder of this year and beyond, as we move into the era of a new International Motor Sports Ass’n and United SportsCar Racing," said Bennett. “Our senior leadership group brings a wealth of collective experience and expertise to the table. Just as important, though, is the finalizing of the overall full-time staff integration plan between the two entities. We feel that these moves are consistent with the spirit and commitment of a true merger, and also are conducive to maximizing synergy with NASCAR, an important element to our efforts moving forward."
For the remainder of this year, Bennett will continue as Grand-Am’s president and CEO, while Atherton will continue as president and CEO of ALMS.
In addition, IMSA and USCR will continue to be guided by a board of directors that includes Bennett and Atherton, with Grand-Am founder Jim France serving as chairman and ALMS founder Don Panoz the vice chairman. Other board members are NASCAR Vice Chairwoman and Executive Vice President Lesa France Kennedy; and NASCAR Vice President and Deputy General Counsel Karen Leetzow.
