Pirelli confirms tire compounds for next three races

Pirelli has announced the tire compounds that will be taken to the next three races in Britain, Germany and Hungary. The tyre construction will remain unchanged, contrary to Pirelli’s initial plans.

“This decision is due to the fact that the new tires, which were brought to the Friday free practice sessions in Canada, could not be tested sufficiently due to rain – and that the teams failed to agree unanimously about introducing the changes," Pirelli stated.

Despite that, however, the Italian manufacturer is confident it has now addressed the delamination issues following a change in the ‘tire production process’. No further details were given.

Meanwhile, for the British Grand Prix, Pirelli has nominated its two hardest tires as these will be best suited to the high-energy demands of the Silverstone track. The hard and medium tires will also be used in Hungary, while in Germany, the medium and soft tires have been selected.
