Rossi tops 2nd MotoGP practice

Round six of the 2013 Championship began today with the first two free practice sessions in preparation for Sunday's race in Montmelo, Catalunya, in very hot conditions.

In the morning session, the track temperature was 33Â§C and air temperature of 25Â§C, at the 4.727km Spanish circuit. In the afternoon, temperatures rose to 49Â§C on the track with an ambient temperature of 28Â§C.

Valentino Rossi topped the second MotoGP practice session at Barcelona, edging out Yamaha teammate Jorge Lorenzo.

Lorenzo, led the way in the first session in the morning. Dani Pedrosa was third.
