Foyt likely to get more surgery
A.J. Foyt will miss Sunday's Iowa Corn Indy 250 at Iowa Speedway, and it's bothering him almost as much as his painful left leg.
His team, AJ Foyt Racing, is having its best season in years, but the team's owner has to watch the race on television while waiting for doctors to decide whether he needs a hip replacement or back surgery.
"I can barely walk, so I've got to get that fixed," Foyt, 78, said Wednesday by phone while driving to a doctor's appointment. "I'm in too much pain to get to the races right now. I hate it, but hell, I'm getting old."
