Silverstone opens doors to public for test

The upcoming Young Driver Test (YDT) at Silverstone will now be open to the public, following successful talks with the Formula One Teams' Association (FOTA).

The event, which had originally been due to take place behind closed doors, will run from July 17-19, with three-day and single-day tickets available to purchase.

Mercedes has been banned from the YDT following its private post-Spanish Grand Prix test with Pirelli, while certain team bosses are currently lobbying for regular drivers to be permitted to further aid the Italian manufacturer with its problems.

Silverstone has also confirmed an attendance of 120,000 for Sunday's Grand Prix, approximately seven thousand lower than its record-breaking figure set in 2012.
