Graf and Luhr win ALMS pole at Lime Rock

Lucas Luhr qualifying at Lime RockLakeville, CT – Muscle Milk Pickett Racing returned to action today at Lime Rock Park in grand fashion as Lucas Luhr scored the pole position for Saturday's American Le Mans Northeast Grand Prix.

After leading both practice sessions earlier on in the day, the team continued its run atop the charts by scoring their first pole position of the season with a lap time of 44.369 seconds around the 1.474-mile, seven-turn road course.

It didn't take any time for Luhr to take over the provisional pole aboard the #6 Muscle Milk HPD ARX-03c, as the German sat in first place throughout the session.

By the time the checkered flag fell on qualifying, the Pickett Racing team was up by eight tenths of a second on the #16 car of Dyson Racing.

The pole position was Luhr's 21st of his career.

The German duo of Klaus Graf and Luhr will be back on track tomorrow, Saturday, July 6 for the morning warm up before taking the green flag at 3:05 pm ET for what promises to be a tough race where patience and dealing with traffic will be key.

The two hour and 45 minute event will be broadcast live on ESPN2 starting at 3:00 pm ET.

Muscle Milk Quotes

Lucas Luhr Headshot Lucas Luhr – driver #6 Muscle Milk HPD ARX-03a
"I had fun getting back into the Muscle Milk HPD P1 car, it had been a while. The break is a little bit too long! Qualifying went well. I'm happy for the guys. I think we did quite well. It was tough today because of the changing track conditions. The temperature also gets so hot that it's hard to find the right balance. That said, I was happy with the car for this short run in qualifying but there is still work to do for the race tomorrow, for the long runs.

"The key factor for the race will be the traffic, especially for the P1 cars. We are by far the fastest cars on the track and you only get two or three clear laps at the beginning of the race if you are lucky, then you're stuck in traffic all day long.
"Sometimes it can be really frustrating. The biggest job tomorrow will be to stay calm, not go crazy in traffic, wait for chances and stay out of trouble because it happens so quickly. The track is not very wide and with the other cars in close fights you don't want to be the guy who messes it up. You have to be patient and time it right so you don't lose too much time and screw up the race for another team."
