Fans boo IndyCar (Update)

UPDATE We didn't get any practice really," Bourdais said. "Personally, I don't understand why you have it for just one race. If you don't have it for race one, you don't need it for race two. We should have much more opportunities to practice this.

"I was a little shaky on the grid and once I saw the yellow flag waving, I was like, ‘Yes, thank you.'"

Franchitti nodded in agreement but Marco Andretti said he could go either way on the decision.

"I'm not against what we did today," Andretti said. "If the fans really like it, I'm not against it."

When told that IndyCar was considering moving the standing start attempt to Sunday, Bourdais retorted that, "they are probably going to do it anyway — it doesn't matter what we think."

[Editor's Note: The cars should be gridded on the track, not on pit lane. The engines should be started and the drivers get one practice at a standing start right then and there. They should then go around and stop on their grid spot and the race should start. This way they get one go at a standing start to ascertain wheel spin and then come around and do it for real. i.e. they should do it just like F1. Duh….not rocket science. Why they grid the cars on pitlane instead of the track is absolutely ludicrous.]

07/13/13 The fans in Toronto booed IndyCar loudly when it was announced that they were not going to try a second time to do a standing start Saturday in Toronto when the first one was aborted because Josef Newgarden's Honda stalled on the grid. Instead they reverted to a rolling start after the fans paid money to see a standing start. And on the social media the fans were also livid, calling IndyCar and its drivers lame.

Why was it that Champ Car was able to do standing starts without incident with turbocharged engines for many races, the drivers do standing starts out of the pits all day long, yet they are incapable of coming around and giving a standing start a second try if the first one is aborted? Is it really that difficult? Really?

IndyCar can save face if they announce Sunday's race will be a standing start.
